Reporting to Parents
Parents will be reported to three times a year.
Autumn Term - Face-to-face Parents Evening.
Spring Term - Face-to-face Parents Evening.
Summer Term - End of Year written report.
What we share with parents is underpinned by teachers' assessments of each child's progress and attainment.
Our assessment encompasses:
- what a child knows now
- how well they know it
- what they need to know next
- whether they are on track to reach these targets by the end of the year
Such judgements are made by teacher's day to day interaction with children and supplemented by more formal assessments:
- EYFS Baseline (Start of Reception class).
- Phonics (End of Year 1).
- KS1 Sats
- KS2 Sats (within KS2 pupils will undertake formal assessments in English [Reading and Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation] and Mathematics.
Our curriculum focuses on depth and breadth and so progress can present itself in several different ways.
The expectation now is that all learners fully understand the key facts and concepts before moving on to new material. Progress will now involve developing deeper, wider understanding, and consolidation not moving on to work of greater difficulty. Formative assessment strategies will now distinguish those learners who had successfully mastered the new learning, and could clearly demonstrate it. Some children may require further opportunities to deepen and enrich their understanding. Others receive further support and feedback personalised to their needs, so that they too achieved the intended learning outcomes for their age.
