Religious Education

Religious Education is taught in accordance with the rites, practices and teachings of the Catholic Church. These teachings are found in all areas of the curriculum and every subject is used to proclaim the Gospel message, links in learning provide the children with opportunities to make connections. The whole aim of the school is to nurture the spiritual growth of your child in their relationship with God the Father.

Our school  follows the curriculum strategy – Learning and Growing as the People of God – provided by the Archdiocese of Birmingham for teaching RE in a Catholic primary school. This contains units of work taught in each year group and contains the common strands of scripture, the sacraments, life in Christ and prayer. Children are taught in an age appropriate manner and are helped to understand in depth the teachings of Jesus and the Church.

In addition to the diocesan strategy, each class group has a multi faith focus running throughout the year, where they focus on other faiths including visits to places of worship.

Furthermore, our curriculum is underpinned by the Diocese of Birmingham's virtues and values. These values underpin all our curriculum learning so that the children learn to be independent, confident and successful learners with high aspirations and who are well prepared for life ahead of them. We aim to provide them with a clear understanding of the possibilities and opportunities that are there for them in life and we believe that our pupils should leave St. Patrick's with a love of learning and an understanding of the world that God has created for them.

Relationship and Health Education

Our RSE curriculum follows a comprehensive Catholic scheme called Ten:Ten - Life to the Full.  Its root stem from John 10:10 where Jesus teaches us the message, "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."  The way the scheme is applied at St. Patrick's allows for staff to promote and nurture spiritual growth, personal development and social responsibility by sharing inspiring, creative content through a Catholic lens for all our pupils.
