PE & Sports Funding
Primary School’s Sports Funding
The Government is providing funding of £150 million per annum for academic years 2013/14 to 2016/17 to provide new, substantial primary school sport funding. This funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and will see money going directly to primary school head teachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children.
Purpose of Funding
Our school has been spending the funding in various ways to improve their provision of PE & school sports and the wellbeing of pupils.
How will St. Patrick's be using the funding?
Our school has been using the funding to help provide more opportunities for children to compete in sporting activities and tournaments. Competing in different sporting activities have been provided to all students including those with SEND and gifted and talented children.
Regular professional development opportunities occur to enhance the standard of teaching in physical education within our school.
Promoting healthy lifestyles has become a priority within the school with the help of more after school clubs being available to the children within our school. Healthy eating has become a main focus, with careful monitoring of lunchboxes and school dinners taking place regularly.
